Leadership : wise words of Lao Tzu

Yesterday, I heard Sir Paul Callaghan speak at the Nelson Chamber of Commerce 2011 Aspire conference – he is a truly inspirational, and grounded, speaker. Amongst his gems he included the following words on Leadership. I think they were the words of Lao Tzu,

Leaders

The worst, the people hate

The next best, the people fear

The next best, the people honor and praise

But for the best leaders, the people do not notice their existence

When the best leaders’ work is done the people say “we did it ourselves”
